Animal Instincts
I've lived most of my life as a snake or a lion. I was born in the year of the Snake according to the Chinese calendar, and in the month of the Lion according to the Zodiac. Which should tell you all you need to know about me.
I've been called a bear by a lot of people in my life, though. A slow, bumbling bear. A polar bear. A big, teddy bear. I like to be grounded, to do things slow, to be with the flow. Snake-ish does come to mind, but perhaps I'm not cunning enough.
Rhythms and syncopations are fun to play with and watch, and of late I've been pushing myself to change up my rhythms. Nature's rhythms are so much more varied than human's ideas of rhythms. One can even say the consistent machine may be the epitome of the human's beat. A consistent beat does keep our heart active after all. Although, even that is syncopated.
What is my opposite animal? Something that's off the ground, something that flies. Something that's not big, something that's small. Something that has an insane rhythm, something that flits around. A butterfly. A flying cockroach. A sparrow.
Opposites attract. Butterflies attract me. But I also fear them. Most days it's a coin flip of my psyche when I meet a butterfly. Perhaps I could syncopate the coin flip while being around these butterflies. They're not the only ones with rhythms.
