Arthaus: quick notes
Arthaus: Day Seventeen
Quick summary of the fairy tale:
Father:
Looks for a shortcut, as though there were a place to go to, and win at that. Looking for quick integration (of knowledge, of connection). Doesn't have time. We all want a quick fix. Of instant gratification.
Mother:
Social worker
They lose themselves. They don't know how to be selfish
She stays a collaborator to the end
Daughter:
Need for validation. For a good review. For parents in the audience. Does as she is told.
Devil:
Sense of entitlement. Of wit, and of trickery. Selfish, lack of solidarity. Blindness to its desire. Magic, disembodied culture. Afraid of pureness, the soil, the flowers, softness.
And with Ariel we spoke about how boys aren't allowed to cry. In some cultures we weren't allowed to sneeze (keep quiet). We can do a buffoon piece where we can't cry or sneeze. Where girls can't sit open legged. Or splits, unless they want a broken hymen. In a culture where being naked is good, what if we don't want to be naked. Girls must have long hair. Masturbation is a taboo. Why sensor the pleasure? Why only 10 minutes?
We'll get used to our shadow, to discovering it, talking about it, possibly eating it (5 stages of shadow projection), then find a new one. The cycle never ends, but if this cycle gets easier, then it's a lot easier to face our shadow.
