Dublin dub dubs
I'm about to leave Dublin for Berlin, and finally taking stock of this incredible, unbelievable week. Every photo and memory is hitting me like constant waves on the shore and I know I have to put this into words before the waves recede.
'How far can you fall before you're caught?' Pretty fucking far, as it turns out. I've been the furthest out of my comfort zone and every single time the vertigo hits, I'm caught by you beautiful souls at camp. Improv facilitates this leap, and I got the opportunity to watch as so many like-minded people stared fearlessly into this chasm and faced it down like the CHAMPIONS that they are. We all have a little Cuchulainn in us, tied to a rock and facing down our inner demons. All that combined strength - WOW.
Thank you everybody, for all the real moments. Thank you Neil, Jackie and Nick for creating this Utopia. Thank you all the teachers for bringing a piece of yourself into the class. Thank you Cedric for all the cool perspectives that I shall now think about applying for the next few months. Thank you Stacy, for matching my current emotional turmoil. Thank you Elle, for showing me you can do improv with 5 weeks of exp. Thank you Kate, for understanding. Thank you Colman, for being unapologetically charming and a delight. Thank you Scott, for the angriest Santa ever. Thank you Kelley, for your playfulness. Thank you Crimm, for being. Thank you JC, for doing QUEEN (also IAN!). Thank you Rick, for giving awards for the most pointless part of camp. Thank you Susan for sharing a swing. Thank you Sarah for short moments. Thank you Ferran, for being a creative. Thank you Devin, for inspiring EMOTIONS. Thank you Brid for the clown connection. Thank you Will and troupe members for THIS MY CLIFF, BITCH! Thank you Michael for remembering 100 names. Thank you Veronica for introducing Camp Utopia to me! Thank you thank you for connecting, for dance and song and words.
Thank you all for allowing me to be me, to do nonsense, do improv in mandarin - first ever -, to lead the most avant guarde musical theater troupe in lion king karaoke, and for inspiring me to continue on this never-ending journey of being young and running towards the unknown at full-speed.
I never want to forget.
