Magnet Graduation
I'm a proud Magnet graduate.
Today (3/10), I completed my last performance of the TPW run - best show eva btw. I was a horse, a doll and a massively introverted guy. Truth in comedy.
We couldn't have gotten this far without Phoebe Tyers, our amazing coach. I wish I knew my friends were submitting feedback about her to the Magnet teachers - I would've written something too. Either way, she's now coaching the new season of Megawatt. Which she rightly deserves to. She's a ball of joy, color and energy, makes us gel as a team, and is intellectually lucid enough to tell us to look for fun in our improv. What a great coach.
It's been a long path improv-ing here. Learning game from Rob Penty, positivity from Megan Gray, grounded improv from Rick Andrews, good improv philosophy from Louis Kornfeld, physicality and playing big from Elana Fishbein, physicality and celebration of people from Nick Kanellis, more game from Eleanor Lewis, heightening from Hannah Chase, absurdity and the components of an improv piece from Peter McNerney. Boy, what a journey. I hope to someday return, put everything together, and play with more like minded people.
For now, I'll take these precious gifts and start my artistic journey.
Thank you all you lovely teachers. All the lovely people I got to play with. All the amazing memories that I got to immerse myself in. How I learned about the american high school by doing locker scenes with people. Playing at acting with actors. Park benching of truths and learning about other millenials' truths. Air jamming with made-up bands. Learning other people's idea of fun. Dying of laughter at the stupidest of things.
Thank you Magnet Theater.
