Singapore Election Day

As a consequence of free speech, feelings of hostility between different racial and religious groups could be incited in Singapore. As a consequence of free speech, critics and activists will exist. As a consequence of free speech, dissidents will need to have lawsuits taken against them by the authorities.

Article 14.1 grants Singaporean citizens the right to freedom of speech and expression. Article 14.2 states that only the Parliament holds to power to grant it. You have free speech, if the government allows it. As a consequence any free speech must be restricted to the 'Speaker's corner' and even then one must fill in a form and beg for that right.

As a consequence of with-holding your vote in the General Election 2011, you will not be able to vote in future elections.

We saw the consequence and we dealt with it before it came.

You have to deal with the consequence.
